Voluntary Prayers and Fasting on the 27th of Rajab

Devotional performance should be done with cleanliness, purity of faith, with exclusive attention i.e. heart and should in the prayers and to understand what we are praying. It is our duty to worship Allah and also fast specially on the 27th day. Every devotional act will have spiritual benefits. This night is the night of Divine mercy and Allah will grant success and fulfillment of desires to the sincere devotees and also protect them from haram and Hellfire.

Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) said that 70,000 angels with trays of divine light on their heads enter the homes of the inmates who are in devout remembrance of Allah and by the grace of Allah they empty these trays over the heads of those who pray.

According to the Tradition, whoever performs devout actions during the 27th night and keeps fast during the 27th day of Rajab, he will be favoured with great spiritual reward. And if his intention is to gain Divine pleasure then he shall be honoured to partake meals with Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (A-lai-his-sa-laam), on the Day of Judgement.

This night should be celebrated by having sermons and sacred gatherings. Those holding and attending these gatherings will be worthy of spiritual rewards.

There are many types pointed out in many books Kitabul Awraad, Toohfah, Falah-ud-deen, Risala hashriyyah, Ahyaa-ul-uloom, Khoola-sa-tul Akhyaar, Sirool Asraar, Zaadool Maad, etc.

NAWAAFIL NAMAZ
(To pray on the night of 27th Rajab)AFTER ISHA

12 raka’at Nafl
(2 at a time)
In every raka’at after ‘Al-ham-du’ Sura Ikhlas’ 5 times.
After Namaaz, recite 100 times Darood Sharif for fulfillmant of desires.

6 raka’at Nafl namaz (2 at a time).
In each raka’at recite ‘Al-ham-du’ once and ‘Qul-hu-wal-lah’ 7 times.
After salaam 50 times darood Sharif.

100 Nafl namaz, (2 at a time)
In each raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite ‘Qul-hu-wal-lah’. Hastily recite 100 Darood Sharif. Go in Sajdah and appeal to Allah. Insha Allah, He will no let you go empty hand.

2 raka’at Nafl Namaaz with intention of presenting it to Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him). In each raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite ‘Qul-hu-wal-lah’ 27 times and in the Tashahud, after ‘At-tah-hi-yaat’ recite Darood-e-Ibrahim 27 times.

12 raka’at nafl namaz (2 at a time)
The 1st four raka’ats : In each raka’at recite ‘Al-ham-du’ once and Sura Qadr 3 times. After salaam recite 70 times ‘LAA I-LAA-HA IL-LAL-LAA-HUL MA-LI-KUL HAQ-QUL MU-BEEN’ .

In the 2nd four raka’ats : in each raka’at recite ‘Al-ham-du’ once and Sura Nasr (I-zaa-ja-a nas-rul-lah) 3 times. After salaam recite 70 times ‘IN-NA-KA KAV WAA-HI-DI-YUN DA-LI-LUN BI-HAQ-QI IY-YAA-KA NA’-BU-DU WA IY-YAA-KA NAS-TA-EEN’ .

In the 3rd four raka’at : In each raka’at recite ‘Al-ham-du’ once and ‘Qul-hu-wal-lah’ 3 times. After salaam recite 70 times Sura ‘A-lam Nash-rah’. Pray for your desires to be fulfilled.

2 raka’at Nafl namaz. In the first raka’at after’Al-ham-du’ recite Sura ‘A-lam-nash-rah’ once. In the second raka’at after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite Sura Li-I-laa-fi Qu-raish’. This prayer will enable you to the reward of praying with the Aulias.

7. There are many more nafl Namaazz in 10, 20 and 100 raka’ats. Pray as much as you can.

27TH DAY OF RAJAB

1. After Zuhr Namaaz, 4 raka’at with one sa-laam. In the first raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite ‘Sura Qadr’ 3 times. In the second raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’-ham-du’ recite ‘Qul-hu-wal-lah’-hu-wal-lah’ 3 times. In the third raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite Sura Falq 3 times. In the fourth raka’at, after ‘Al-ham-du’ recite Sura Naas 3 times. After salaam, recite Darood Sharif 100 times. All your desires will be fulfilled.

2. Keep fast of this day. It is worth 100 fasts and prevents the punishment of the grave and Hellfire. You will receive a drink from the Rajab river in Paradise.

May Allah accept our invocation and devotional performances and grant us the spiritual effects in this month of Rajab and Shab-e- Me’raaj. May Allah grant our supplications (du’aa), Aameen.

QUR’ANIC VERSES REGARDING ME’RAAJ

(1) Verse 1 of Sura bani Israil (or Isra) : “Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant (Allah’s Messenger) for a journey by night from the Sacred Mosque (Masjid-ul-Haram) to the Farthest Mosque (Masjid-ul-Aqsa), whose precincts we did bless, in order that we might show him some of Our Signs; for He is the One Who heareth and seeth (all things)” (17 : 1) (2) Verse 60 of the same Sura, viz… “We granted the vision which we showed thee (Allah’s Messenger) but as a trial men…” (17 : 60) (3) Verse 1 to 18 of Sura najm : “By the star when it goes down your companion (Allah’s Messenger) is neither astray nor being misled. Not does He say (aught) of (his own desire). It is no less than inspiration sent down to him. He was taught by one mighty in power. Endued with wisdom for he appeared (in stately form). While he was in the highest part of the horizon then he approached and came closer. And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer. So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His servant (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. The (Prophet’s) (mind sand) heart I no way falsified that which he saw. Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw ? For indeed he saw him at a second descent (Cf. 81 : 23). Near the lote-tree (sidreat-ul-muntaha) beyond which none may pass. Near it is the garden of a abode (Jannat-ul-mawa). Behold the lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable). His sight never swerved,not did it go wrong. For truly did he see of the signs of his Lord the greatest” (53 : 18)

The event of Me’raaj is one of the divine miracles of the Messenger of Allah (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) by Allah. It consists of three stages. 1. From Masjid-e-Aqsa is the world of human body of Universe of existence or evidence. 2. From Masjid-e-Aqsa to the High Heavens is the world of soul or spirit and light. 3. Above the Heaven’s is the Arsh-e-Ilaahi, Noor of Allah – away from the boundaries of Time and Place. This auspicious night is the night of 27th Rajab, Monday 621 A.D. Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) was 52 years old and in the 12th year of Prophethood. It happened one and a half year before Hijrat and after Allah’s Messenger’s return from the expedition to taif.

Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) was sleeping in his cousin sister Umme Hani’s house (also known as Hind – the daughter of Abu Talib). Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) awakened Allah’s Messenger and informed him that Allah has conferred on him the unique honour of summoning him in His Own Presence. Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) took. Allah’s Messenger to Hatim or Hajr in the Masjid-e-Haram and purified Allah’s Messenger’s heart with Zam Zam water (Cf. 94 : 1). Then he filled it with Faith (Imaan), Allah’s Light (Noor) and Divine Knowledge and wisdom (hikmat). Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) took Allah’s Messenger on the heavenly steed Buraaq, traveling like lightening to Masjid-e-Aqsa. Here Allah’s Messenger led the congregational prayers as Imam and the previous Prophets and Apostles were muqtadis (people behind the Imam).

Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) met previous Apostles and Prophets and greeted them. He met Hazrat Adam (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on the 1st heaven, Hazrat Isa (A-lai-hi-sa-laam) and Hazrat Yahya (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on the 3rd, Hazrat Idris (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on the 4th, Hazrat Haroon (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on the 5th Hazrat Moosa (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on the 6th and Hazra Ibrahim (A-lai-his-sa-laam) on th 7th heaven .

Near Sidratul Muntaha (Lota-tree), Allah’s Messenger saw the Ruhul Quddus Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) in his physical from for the 2nd time (1st time being in the cave of Hira where Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) bought the 1st divine revelation). Then they parted company as Hazrat Jibreel (A-lai-his-sa-laam) could not travel up as his wings would burn.

Then Allah’s Messenger rode another heavenly conveyance, Raf-Raf and reached Allah an prostrated before Allah. The messenger of Allah (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) found himself engulfed with the Divine splendour of Tajalli and Noor-e-Illahi. There was a distance of two bow-lengths or nearer, between Allah and the Messenger of Allah. Allah informed him about His wisdom, showed him His Secrets and Wonders and gave His Commands.

The Messenger of Allah (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) then returned to Masjid-e-Aqsa and then back to Umme Hani’s house. He later offered his Fajr prayers and narrated the precedings night’s events. Some believed him and some jeered at him and some cross-examined him and asked for clarifications (Abu Jahal). Hazrat Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) was the first to express belief and said, “ You said the truth, O Messenger of Allah.” Thus Hazrat Abu bakr (Allah be pleased with him) received the title of Al Siddique.

IMPORTANCE OF ME’RAAJ 1. Allah had made His Prophet’s Me’raaj as a means of the people’s trial (Cf. 53 : 12, 17 : 60) and a warning to pagans (Cf. 17 : 76) that they will have no people if they expelled the Messenger of Allah. Allah had not sent punishment to the pagan’s because Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) was among them (Cf. 8 : 33).

2. Me’raaj was a precursor of Allah’s Messenger’s impending exit from Makka and emigration to Madina (Cf. 17 : 80) Allah’s Messenger (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) would achieve spiritual success and Islam would flourish and spread all over the world.

3. Me’raaj proved the power, authority and jurisdiction of Allah’s Messenger. Allah is All Powerful, Dominant and Authoritative to establish the position of His Beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Blessing of Allah and Peace be on him) exclusively. 5. Three Divine gifts were presented to the Messenger of Allah on this illustrious night.

a. The last 2 verses of Sura Baqarah 2:285, 286 were revealed emphasizing the fundamental articles of faith, Allah’s attributes and how to seek Allah’s refuge and pardon.

b. five times daily prayers became obligatory on Muslims and Allah’s Messenger declared ‘Salaat-al Me’raaj-ul-Momin – Salaat (Namaaz) is the Mr’raaj of the believer i.e. union with Allah.

c. Allah and promised His Messenger that He will forgive every members of his Ummat after judging him and giving him reward of punishment accordingly and admit him to Paradise – provided he has not committed shirk.

4. Huququl Allah – duty to Allah.

5. Huququl Ibaad – duty to Muslims and to oneself.

6. To do good and avoid evil and live according to Islamic principles.

7. To worship and obey Allah, to trust and thank Him for everything i.e. to ask Him for forgiveness.

8. To recite Qur’aan and pray Qur’aaanic Aayats for prosperity, success and relief, etc.

9. This auspicious night of majesty and spiritual excellence is the night of Divine Mercy. We must pray to Allah in this night and day and also observe a fast on the 27th day to earn spiritual rewards on the 27th day to earn spiritual rewards and be secure against hardships and calamity.

Me’raaj – An Event Unparalelled

The sun set. The 26th day of the month of Rajab got over and the 27th night descended. This night is absolutely different form other nights, and the event that took place on this night was also unique and unparalleled in the history of mankind. Of all the messengers and prophets, from Hazrat Nooh (Peace be on him) to Hazrat Isaa (Peace be on him), none got an invitation from the Almighty Allah to pay a visit to him. Prophet Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him) has the privilege of conversing with the Almighty Allah, but no prophet was ever invited to visit the Almighty Allah.

This privilege, this special invitation of visiting the Almighty Allah was extended to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) Hazrat Muhammed (Blessing of Allah and peace be on him). He is the one and only person who became an honoured guest of the Almighty Allah.

On the night of 27th of the month of Rajab, angel Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) came to the earth, along with fifty thousand angels and the heavenly animal Buraaaq. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) opened the chest of Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a golden dish full of wisdom and faith and put it in the body of Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ).

The heavenly animal which was brought for the journey of Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ), was white and long, larger than a donkey, but smaller than a mule, whose hoof touched the ground at a distance equal to the range of its vision. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) mounted it. The journey began from the Sacred Mosque (masjidul Haraam-Makka). Angels Hazrat Jibreel, Hazrat Meekaail (Peace be on them) and other angles were accompanying him.

When they reached Masjid-e-Aqsa in Jerusalem, the Buraaq was tied to a stone. According to one tradition, Hazrat Jibreel made a hole in the stone and the heavenly animal Buraaq was tied there.

In Masjid-e-Aqsa, all the prophets, from Hazrat Adam to Hazrat Isa (Peace be on them) were present. Everyone offered two raka’at namaaz. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) led the prayer and all the prophets followed him.

Here Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) offered two cups, one containing milk and the other containing wine, to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ). He chose milk and drank it. According to eminent historian Ibne Hishsham, three cups, one containing water, the second containing milk and the third containing wine, were brought to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and he heard someone saying, “If he chooses water, his people (ummat) will go astray. If he chooses milk, then he and his people (ummat) will be on the true path”. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) choose and drank milk, and Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said, “O Messenger of Allah! You and your people (ummat) found the primordial path.”

Now the journey for Heavens began. They came to the lowest (1st) heaven. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) asked the angel guarding the gate to open it. The angel enquired who he was. He replied that he was Jibreel. The angel questioned who was with him. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said that Hazrat Muhammed (Blessing of Allah and peace be on him) was with him. The guarding angel asked whether he (Allah be pleased with him)’s Messenger) had been sent for and when Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) replied that, that was so, the guarding angle said, ”Welcome, his coming is good.” And the gate was opened.

Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) entered. Prophet Hazrat Adam (Peace be on him) was there. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ), “This is your father Adam so give him a salutation.” Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) did so. Hazrat Adam (Peace be on him) returned his salutation and said, “welcome to the good son and the good prophet.”

Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) and Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) reached the second heaven. The same question and answers were exchanged between the guarding angel of the gate and Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him). Then the angel opened the gate and said, “ Welcome, his coming is good.”

Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) met prophets Hazrat Yahya and Hazrat Isaa (Peace be on them). Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ), “They are Hazrat Yahya and Hazrat Isaa.” Then he requested him to give them a salutation. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) did so. Both Hazrat Yahya and Hazrat Isaa (Peace be on them) returned Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him )’s salutation and said, “Welcome to the good brother and the good prophet.”

In this manner Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) met prophet Hazrat Yusuf (peace on be him) on the third heaven .On the fourth heaven He met prophet Hazrat Idris (peace on be him). On the fifth heaven He met prophet Hazrat Haroon (peace on be him). On the sixth heaven He met Hazrat Moosa (peace on be him).At the gate of each heaven the same question answers were asked by the guarding angel and Hazrat Jibreel (peace on be him) each time gave the same replies. When Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) passed from there Hazrat Moosa (peace on be him) began to weep and when He was asked what was making him weep,He replied,”I am weeping because more followers of a young man who was commissioned after my time will enter paradise than of mine (remember, this weeping was not because of envy, but was out of sadness for his people-his ummat).

On the seventh heaven Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) met Hazrat Ibrahim (peace on be him) Hazrat Jibreel said,”This is your father Ibrahim. So give him a salutation.” Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) gave a salutation to Hazrat Ibrahim (peace on be him).He returned the salutation and,”welcome to the good son and the good prophet.”

From the seventh heaven, Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) was taken up to the lote-tree. The tree’s fruits were like very big earthen-ware vessel (matka) its leaves were like elephant’s ear. Lote-tree (Sidratul Muntaha) is a boundary. No one, not even Hazrat Jibreel (peace on be him) is allowed to go beyond that.

Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) saw four rivers, two concealed and two appearent. He asked Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be o him) about those rivers. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) replied, “The two concealed ones are rivers in paradise and the two apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.”

Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) could not go above the prescribed limit, i.e. Sidratul Muntaha. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said, “If I were to go even slightly beyond this limit, my wings will get burnt.”

Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said, “If you wish for anything, do tell me, I will put it before the Almighty Allah, “Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said, “Please grant me permission from the Almighty Allah that on the Day of Judgement when your people (ummat) cross the bridge of Sirat (Pool-sirat) I may be allowed to spread my wings on the pool-sirat so that your people (ummat) can cross it without any trouble.” Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) replied that he would convey his wish to Almighty Allah.

Near Sidratul Muntaha, Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) saw a row of camels which was passing continuously. He asked Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) about those camels who were carrying boxes on their backs. Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) said, “O Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) ! These rows have been passing in this manner even from before I was created. I do not know anything about it. Only Allah knows its secret.”

Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said, “get one of the boxes and open its lock after reciting Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem.” Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) did so. The box was full of eggs. And each egg had a lock on it. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said, “Say Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem and open its lock.” Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) recited Bis-mil-lah and opened the lock of one egg. The egg contained poppy seeds. And each poppy seed had a lock on it. Again Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) asked Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) to open the lock of the poppy seed after reciting Bis-mil-lah. Hazrat Jibreel did so, and saw that there was a world existing inside it and there was a big city and in that city there was a huge gathering. A speaker was addressing the gathering “The last of the prophets has declared his  Prophethood Unless and until we have faith in him, we will not be able to obtain salvation. “ Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) got up and said, “I am Jibreel and the last of the prophets, Muhammad Mustafa (Blessings of Allah and peace be on him) is with me.” At that time the whole gathering recited Kalimaa and got into the fold of Islam. After that Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) locked the poppy seed, the egg and the box and placed it on the camel’s back and the rows went on moving. (This particular incident is narrated in the book Rahbar-e-Haq).

Allah’s Messenger saw hell and paradise. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said that from there He continued his journey all alone. There were seventy thousand veils. The thickness of each veil was equal to five hundred year’s journey, and the distance between the two veils was also five hundred year’s journey. The heavenly animal Buraaq and Hazrat Jibreel (Peace be on him) remained back at Sidratul Muntahaa.

The conveyance that carried Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) upward in his journey is known as Rafraf. It was very bright and more illuminating than the sunlight. Rafraf means soft bed. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) was moving upwards and finally He reached the ultimate destination and met the Almighty Allah and saw Him with his own eyes.

In this auspicious night the Almighty Alah presented 50 times Namaaz daily, to His Messenger. Apart from that He was given the last verses of Sura al-Baqarah and forgiveness of serious sins to those of his people (ummat) who did not associate anything with the Almighty Allah.

The Almighty Allah enquired from His distinquished guest about the wish of Hazrat Jibreel. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said that He (Allah be pleased with him) is all knowing. The Almighty Allah said, “I grant acceptance to the wish of Jibreel. But that will be only for those persons who, O the loved one, will love you, befriend you and stay in your company.

On his return journey, Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) met Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him), who enquired, “What did you get for your people (ummat)? “Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) replied, Fifty times Namaaz daily.” Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him) said, “Your ummat will not be able to offer fifty times Namaaz per day. I have experience of my people (ummat). Please go back to the Lord Almighty and request him to reduce the number of Namaaz. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) went back to the Almighty Allah and requested him to reduce the number of Namaaz. The Almighty Allah reduced it to five times Namaaz daily. When Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) returned, Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him) asked him about the number of the reduced Namaaz and told him to request Allah to make some more concession. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) went back to te Almighty Allah and on that visit five more Namaaz were reduced. Again Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him) told Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) to get more concession and again the Almighty Allah reduced five more Namaaz. In this manner, finally when only five times Namaaz per day remained, Hazrat Moosa (Peace be on him) told Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) that his people (ummat)will not be able to offer even five times Namaaz every day, because his people (Hazrat Moosa’s ummat) were not regular even though these were only two times Namaaz was compulsory for them. Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said, “I have asked many times, now I feel ashamed to ask for more.” If a person offers five times Namaaz every day, he/she will get virtues equal to fifty times Namaaz.

After that Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) came back to earth at Masjid-e-Aqsa. Here prophets Hazrat Ibrahim, Hazrat Moosa and Hazrat Isaa (Peace be on him) were waiting for him. He offered Namaaz there and subsequently came back to Makka and returned to his sleeping chamber. It is mentioned in the commentaries of the Holy Qur’aan that when Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) returned, his bed was still warm and the chain of the door was moving (signifying that He was away from the bed for just a little time).

On the morning of 27th Rajab, He described the details of his night journey.

When Abu Jahal, the staunch enemy of Allah and His Messenger heard this, Hhe went to Hazrat Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) and said, “Muhammad (Blessing of Allah and peace be on him) says that during the night He went to Baitul Muqaddas and then went to heavens. Is it believable?” Hazrat Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) said, “If Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) says so, I will believe it, because he never speaks untruth.”

On this firm belief of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) he was called Siddique, meaning truthful.

Abu Jahal went to Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and said, “Are you prepared to tell what you told us, to the people of Makka?” Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) replied in the affirmative. Abu Jahal called all the disbelievers. When they heard that event they started shouting and clapping trying to redicule Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ).

Someone said, “We know quite well that you never visited Baitul Muqaddas and if you have visited it tell us about it. At that time Baitul Muqaddas was brought in front of Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and He answered all the questions that the disbelievers put to him pertaining Baitul Muqaddas. One disbeliever said, “While coming back you must have seen our trade-caravan. If you have tell us something about it.” Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) said that He came across some caravans. One was close to Roohaa (name of a place). It will reach here by sunset on Wednesday. They had lost one of their camels. They were worried about it and were searching it. I called out to them and told them that their camel was at such and such place. They were surprised to hear my voice. Another caravan was at such and such place and will reach here by Wednesday afternoon. Two persons were riding on a camel when my Buraaq passed from there, the camel got scared and threw them down. The third caravan I spotted was near Tan’eem. In front of the caravan was a camel havin. One camel rider was asking his slave to give him a blanket, That caravan will reach here by sunrise.”

The caravans arrived as told by Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ) and the disbeliever went and enquired with them about the things described by Allah’s Messenger ( Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him ). The caravan people confirmed with what Allah’s Messenger had said. Hearing that many disbelievers accepted Islam.

میرے سرکار کو یہ رتبہ ملا آج کی رات

میرے سرکار کو یہ رتبہ ملا آج کی رات
اُس کا مداح ہوا رب العلٰی آج کی رات

عرش پر شاہ مدینہ کو بلا کر حق نے
ہم گناہگاروں پر احسان کیا آج کی رات

مرحبا صل علٰی شان کریمی کے نثار
جھوم کر برسا کیا ابر عطا آج کی رات

رف رفِ شاہ مدینہ کی یہ رفتار لطیف
رہ گئی پیچھے بہت پیچھے ہوا آج کی رات

حق نے بخشی تھی ستاروں کو مہ کامل کو
روئے سرکار مدینہ کی ضیاء آج کی رات

زاہدوں کو تو عطا کی ہی تھی جنّت
ہم گناہگاروں کو بھی بخش دیا آج کی رات

حق کے محبوب ملے جنّتِ فردوس ملی
اور کیا چاہئیے سب کچھ تو ملا آج کی رات

فرش سے عرش پہ پہنچے جو شہ ہر دوسرا
مل گئے مہر گل عرض و سماں آج کی رات

معراج نظم نذر گدا بحضور سلطان انبیاء علیہ افضل الصلوٰۃ والثنائ
درتہنیت شادی اسرائ

وہ سرور کشور رسالت جو عرش پر جلوہ گر ہوئے تھے
نئے نرالے طرب کے ساماں عرب کے مہمان کے لئے تھے
بہار ہے شادیاں مبارک چمن کو آبادیاں مبارک
ملک فلک اپنی اپنی لے میں یہ گھر عنا دل کا بولتے تھے
وہاں فلک پر یہاں زمیں میں رچی تھی شادی مچی تھی دھومیں
ادھر سے انوار ہنستے آتے ادھر سے نفحات آٹھ رہے تھے
یہ چھوٹ پڑتی تھی ان کے رخ کی کہ عرش تک چاندنی تھی چھٹکی
وہ رات کیا جگمگا رہی تھی جگہ جگہ نصب آئینے تھے
نئی دلہن کی پھبن میں کعبہ نکھر کے سنورا سنور کے نکھرا
حجر کے صدقے کمر کے اک تل میں رنگ لاکھوں بناؤ کے تھے
نظر میں دولہا کے پیارے جلوے حیا سے محراب سر جھکائے
سیاہ پردے کے منہ پہ آنچل تجلی ذات بحت کے تھے
خوشی کے بادل امڈ کے آئے دلوں کے طاؤس رنگ لائے
وہ نغمہٴ نعت کا سماں تھا حرم کو خود وجد آگئے تھے
یہ جھوما میزاب زر کا جھومر کہ آرہا کان پر ڈھلک کر
پھوہار برسی تو موتی جھڑ کی حطیم کی گود میں بھرے تھے
دلہن کی خوشبو سے مست کپڑے نسیم گستاخ آنچلوں سے
غلاف مشکیں جو اڑ رہا تھا غزال نافے بسا رہے تھے
پہاڑیوں کا وہ حسن تزیین وہ اونچی چوٹی وہ نازو تمکین
صبا سے سبزہ میں لہریں آئیں دوپٹے دھانی چنے ہوئے تھے
نہا کے نہروں نے وہ چمکتا لباس آب رواں کا پہنا
کہ موجیں چھڑیاں تھیں دھار لچکا حباب تاباں کے تھل ٹکے تھے
پرانا پر داغ ملگجا تھا اٹھا دیا فرش چاندنی کا
ہجوم تار نگہ سے کوسوں قدم قدم فرش باولے تھے
غبار بن کر نثار جائیں کہاں اب اس رہ گزر کو پائیں
ہمارے دل حوریوں کی آنکھیں فرشتوں کے پر جہاں بچھے تھے
خدا ہی دے صبر جان پرغم دکھاؤں کیونکر تجھے وہ عالم
جب ان کو جھرمٹ میں لے کے قدسی جناں کا دولہا بنا رہے تھے
اتار کر ان کے رخ کا صدقہ وہ نور کا بٹ رہا تھا باڑا
کہ چاند سورج مچل مچل کر جبیں کی خیرات مانگتے تھے
وہی تو اب تک چھلک رہا ہے وہی تو جو بن ٹپک رہا ہے
نہانے میں جو گرا تھا پانی کٹورے تاروں نے بھر لئے تھے
بچا جو تلوؤں کا ان کے دھوون بنا وہ جنت کا رنگ وروغن
جنہوں نے دولہا کا پائی اترن وہ پھول گلزار نور کے تھے
خبر یہ تحویل مہر کی تھی کہ رت سہانی گھڑی پھرے گی
وہاں کی پوشاک زیب تن کی یہاں کا جوڑا بڑھا چکے تھے
تجلی حق کا سہرا سر پر صلوٰۃ و تسلیم کی نچھاور
دو رویہ قدسی پرے جما کر کھڑے سلامی کے واسطے تھے
جو ہم بھی واں ہوتے خاک گلشن لپٹ کے قدموں سے لیتے اترن
مگر کریں کیا نصیب میں تو یہ نامرادی کے دن لکھے تھے
ابھی نہ آتے تھے پشت زیں تک کہ سر ہوئی مغفرت کی شلک
صدا شفاعت نے دی مبارک گناہ مستانہ جھومتے تھے
عجب نہ تھا رخش کا چمکنا غزال دم خوردہ سا بھڑکنا
شعاعیں بکے اڑا رہی تھی تڑپتے آنکھوں پہ صاعقے تھے
ہجوم امید ہے گھٹاؤ مرادیں دے کر انہیں ہٹاؤ
ادب کی باگیں لئے بڑھاؤ ملائکہ میں یہ غلغلے تھے
اٹھی جو گرد رہ منور وہ نور برسا کہ راستے بھر
گھرے تھے بادل بھرے تھے جل تھل امنڈ کے جنگل ابل رہے تھے
ستم کیا کیسی مت کٹی تھی قمر وہ خاک ان کے رہ گذر کی
اٹھا نہ لایا کہ ملتے ملتے یہ داخ سب دیکھنا مٹے تھے
براق کے نقش سم کے صدقے وہ گل کھلائے کہ سارے رستے
مہکتے گلبن مہکتے گلشن ہرے بھرے لہلہارہے تھے
نماز اقصیٰ میں تھا یہی سر عیاں ہوں معنی اول آخر
کہ دست بستہ ہیں پیچھے حاضر جو سلطنت آگے کر گئے تھے
یہ ان کی آمد کا دبدبہ تھا نکھار ہر شے کا ہو رہا تھا
نجوم و افلاک جام و مینا اجالتے تھے کھنگالتے تھے
نقب الٹے وہ مہر انور جلال رخسار گرمیوں پر
فلک کو ہیبت سے تپ چڑھی تھی تپکتے انجم کے آبلے تھے
یہ جوشش نور کا اثر تھا کہ آب گوہر کمر کمر تھا
صفائے راہ سے پھسل پھسل کر ستارے قدموں پہ لوٹے تھے
پڑھا یہ لہرا کے بحر وحدت کہ دھل گیا نام رنگ کثرت
فلک کے ٹیلوں کی کیا حقیقت یہ عرش و کرسی دو بلبلے تھے
وہ ظل رحمت وہ رخ کے جلوے کہ تارے چھپتے نہ کھلنے پاتے
سنہری زربفت اودی اطلس یہ تھان سب دھوپ چھاؤں کے تھے
چلا وہ سرو چماں خراماں نہ رک سکا سدرہ سے بھی داماں
پلک جھپکتی رہی وہ کب کے سب این و آں سے گزر چکے تھے
جھلک سے اک قدسیوں پر آئی ہوا بھی دامن کی پھر نہ پائی
سواری دولہا کی دور پہنچی برات میں ہوش ہی گئے تھے
تھکے تھے روح الامین کے بازو چھٹا وہ دامن کہاں وہ پہلو
رکاب چھوٹی امید ٹوٹی نگاہ حسرت کے ولولے تھے
روش کی گرمی کو جس نے سوچا دماغ سے اک بھبو کا پھوٹا
خرد کے جنگل میں پھول چمکا دہر دہر پیڑ جل رہے تھے
جلو میں مرغ عقل اڑے تھے عجب برے حالوں گرتے پڑتے
وہ سدرہ ہی پر رہے تھے تھک کر چڑھا تھا دم تیور آگئے تھے
قوی تھے مرغان وہم کے پر اڑے تو اڑنے کو اور دم بھر
اٹھائی سینے کی ایسی ٹھوکر کہ خون اندیشہ تھوکتے تھے
سنا یہ اتنے میں عرش حق نے کہا مبارک ہوں تاج والے
وہی قدم خیر سے پھر آئے جو پہلے تاج شرف تیرے تھے
یہ سن کے بے خود پکار اٹھا نثار جاؤں کہاں ہیں آقا
پھر ان کے تلوؤں کا پاؤں بوسہ یہ میری آنکھوں کے دن پھرے تھے
جھکا تھا مجرے کو عرش اعلیٰ گرے تھے سجدے میں بزم بالا
یہ آنکھیں قدموں سے مل رہا تھا وہ گرد قربان ہورہے تھے
ضیائیں کچھ عرش پر یہ آئیں کہ ساری قندیلیں جھلملائیں
حضور خورشید کیا چمکتے چراغ منہ اپنا دیکھتے تھے
یہی سماں تھا کہ پیک رحمت خبر یہ لایا کہ چلئے حضرت
تمہاری خاطر کشادہ ہیں جو کلیم پر بند راستے تھے
بڑھ اے محمد قریں ہو احمد‘ قریب آ سرور ممجد
نثار جاؤں یہ کیا ندا تھی یہ کیا سماں تھا یہ کیا مزے تھے
تبارک الله شان تیری تجھی کو زیبا ہے بے نیازی
کہیں تو وہ جوش لن ترانی کہیں تقاضے وصال کے تھے
خرد سے کہہ دو کہ سر جھکالے گماں سے گزرے گزرنے والے
پڑے ہیں یاں خود جہت کو لالے کسے بتائے کدھر گئے تھے
سراغ این و متی کہاں تھا نشان کیف و الیٰ کہاں تھا
نہ کوئی راہی نہ کوئی ساتھی نہ سنگ منزل نہ مرحلے تھے
ادھر سے پیہم تقاضے آنا ادھر تھا مشکل قدم بڑھانا
جلال و ہیبت کا سامنا تھا جمال و رحمت ابھارتے تھے
بڑھے تو لیکن جھجکتے ڈرتے حیا سے جھکتے ادب سے رکتے
جو قرب انہیں کی روش پہ رکھتے تو لاکھوں منزل کے فاصلے تھے
پر ان کا بڑھنا تو نام کو تھا حقیقتہً فعل تھا ادھر کا
تنزلوں میں ترقی افزا دنا تدلیٰ کے سلسلے تھے
ہوا یہ آخر کہ ایک بجرا تموج بحر ہو میں ابھرا
دنا کی گودی میں ان کو لے کر فنا کے لنگر اٹھادیئے تھے
کسے ملے گھاٹ کا کنارہ کدھر سے گزرا کہاں اتارا
بھرا جو مثل نظر طرارا وہ اپنی آنکھوں سے خود چھپے تھے
اٹھے جو قصر دنیٰ کے پردے کوئی خبر دے تو کیا خبر دے
وہاں تو جاہی نہیں دوئی کی نہ کہہ کہ وہ ہی نہ تھے ارے تھے
وہ باغ کچھ ایسا رنگ لایا کہ غنچہ و گل کا فرق اٹھایا
گرہ میں کلیوں کے باغ پھولے گلوں کے تکمے لگے ہوئے تھے
محیط و مرکز میں فرق مشکل رہے نہ فاصل خطوط واصل
کمانیں حیرت میں سر جھکائے عجیب چکر میں دائرے تھے
حجاب اٹھنے میں لاکھوں پردے ہر ایک پردے میں لاکھوں جلوے
عجب گھڑی تھی کہ وصل فرقت جنم کے بچھڑے گلے ملے تھے
زبانیں سوکھی دکھا کے موجیں تڑپ رہی تھیں کہ پانی پائیں
بھنور کو یہ ضعف تشنگی تھا کہ حلقے آنکھوں میں پڑگئے تھے
وہی ہے اول وہی ہے آخر وہی ہے باطن وہی ہے ظاہر
اسی کے جلوے اسی سے ملنے اسی سے اس کی طرف گئے تھے
کمان امکاں کے جھوٹے نقطو تم اول آخر کے پھیر میں ہو
محیط کی چال سے تو پوچھو کدھر سے آئے کدھر گئے تھے
ادھر سے تھیں نذر شہ نمازیں ادھر سے انعام خسروی میں
سلام ورحمت کے ہار گندہ کر گلوئے پر نور میں پڑے تھے
زبان کو انتظار گفتن تو گوش کو حسرت شنیدن
یہاں جو کہنا تھا کہہ لیا تھا جو بات سننی تھی سن چکے تھے
وہ برج بطحا کا ماہ پارا بہشت کی سیر کو سدھارا
چمک پہ تھا خلد کا ستارا کہ اس قمر کے قدم گئے تھے
سرور مقدم کے روشنی تھی کہ تابشوں سے مہ عرب کی
جناں کے گلشن تھے جھاڑ فرشی جو پھول تھے سب کنول بنے تھے
طرب کی نازش کہ ہاں لچکئے ادب وہ بندش کہ ہل نہ سکئے
یہ جوش ضدین تھا کہ پودے کشاکش ارہ کے تلے تھے
خدا کی قدرت کہ چاند حق کے کروڑوں منزل میں جلوہ کرکے
ابھی نہ تاروں کی چھاؤں بدلی کہ نور کے تڑکے آلئے تھے
نبئ رحمت شفیع امت رضا پہ للہ ہو عنایت
اسے بھی ان خلعتوں سے حصہ جو خاص رحمت کے واں بٹے تھے
ثنائے سرکار ہے وظیفہ قبول سرکار ہے تمنا
نہ شاعری کی ہوس نہ پروا ردی تھی کیا کیسے قافیئے تھے

Ik Dhoom Hay Arsh e Azam Par اک دھوم ہے عرش اعظم پر

ہیں صف آراء سب حور و ملک اور غلماں خلد سجاتے ہیں

اک دھوم ہے عرشِ اعظم پر مہمان خدا (عزوجل) کے آتے ہیں

ہے آج فلک روشن روشن ہیں تارے بھی جگمگ جگمگ
محبوب (صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خدا کے آتے ہیں محبوب خدا کے آتے ہیں

قربان میں شان و عظمت پر سوئے ہیں چین سے بستر پر
جبرائیل امیں (علیہ السلام) حاضر ہو کر معراج کا مژدہ سناتے ہیں

جبریل (علیہ السلام) بُراق سجا کرکے فردوس بریں سے لے آئے
بارات فرشتوں کی آئی معراج کو دولہا جاتے ہیں

ہے خلد کا جوڑا زیب بدن رحمت کا سجا سہرا سر پر
کیا خوب سہانا ہے منظر معراج کو دولہا جاتے ہیں

ہے خوب فضا مہکی مہکی چلتی ہے ہوا ٹھنڈی ٹھنڈی
ہر سمت سماں ہے نورانی معراج کو دولہا جاتے ہیں

یہ عزّ و جلال اللہ اللہ (عزوجل) یہ اوج و کمال اللہ اللہ (عزوجل)
یہ حُسن و جمال اللہ اللہ (عزوجل) معراج کو دولہا جاتے ہیں

دیوانو ! تصّور میں دیکھو اسرٰی کے دولہا کا جلوہ
جھرمٹ میں ملائک لے کر انہیں معراج کا دولہا بناتے ہیں

اقصٰی میں سواری جب پہنچی جبریل نے بڑھ کے کہی تکبیر
نبیوں کی امامت اب بڑھ کر سلطانِ جہاں(صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فرماتے ہیں

وہ کیسا حسیں منظر ہوگا جب دولہا بنا سرور ہوگا
عُشاق تصّور کر کر کے بس روتے ہی رہ جاتے ہیں

یہ شاہ (صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے پائی سعادت ہے خالق (عزوجل) نے عطا کی زیارت ہے
جب ایک تجلی پڑتی ہے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) تو غَش کھا جاتے ہیں

جبریل (علیہ السلام) ٹھہر کر سدرہ پر بولے جو بڑھے ہم ایک قدم
جل جائیں گے سارے بال و پَر اب ہم تو یہیں رہ جاتے ہیں

اللہ (عزوجل) کی رحمت سے دلبر (صلی اللہ تعالٰی علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جا پہنچے دَنَا کی منزل پر
اللہ (عزوجل) کا جلوہ بھی دیکھا دیدار کی لذّت پاتے ہیں

معراج کی شب تو یاد رکھا پھر حشر میں کیسے بھولیں گے
عطار اسی اُمید پہ ہم دن اپنے گزارے جاتے ہیں
